SA records new COVID-19 case as hotel quarantine surveillance testing is introduced

It has been confirmed the woman is the partner of the man whose positive test result was announced yesterday.

South Australia has reported one new case of COVID-19 in a woman who arrived on a repatriation flight from India, bringing the state’s active case numbers to eight.

It has been confirmed the woman is the partner of the man whose positive test result was announced yesterday.

The couple arrived in South Australia on August 4, and initially tested negative to the virus, however their day twelve tests came back positive.

Like her partner, the woman has been quarantining in a medi-hotel since her arrival.

The couple and their children will remain in quarantine as a group.

SA Health has also confirmed an active surveillance program will commence for workers involved in hotel quarantine.

The testing program is a precaution, intended to add an extra layer of certainty to South Australia’s already “highly stringent” hotel quarantine processes.

As of Friday, a range of businesses will need to have a COVID Marshal as part of their COVID management plan.

The state’s COVID Marshal training is set to go live this afternoon, and will be available at sa.gov.au.

More to come.
