It’s a place that’s been flying under the radar – a go-to for relaxed lunches, winery tours, and cozy winter retreats. Now, it’s finally getting the global recognition it deserves.

The Adelaide Hills has landed a spot in Traveller magazine’s top 10 global food destinations for 2024, a testament to its amazing food and wine scene. This South Australian gem is gaining well-deserved recognition for its quality dining experiences, fresh produce, and exceptional wines.

So there’s never been a better time to get out and explore our wonderful hills. And there’s plenty to do while you’re there.

First on the itinerary would have to be the gorgeous wineries. In 2023 Sidewood Estate emerged as the star of the Adelaide Hills wine show, clinching seven trophies across three different wines—a first in the 26-year history of the Show.

With a focus on organic wines, and pretty spectacular alcoholic and non-alcoholic flights, it’s definitely one to try.

There are heaps more, though. Try Golding Wines, Anvers Winery – or Tappanappa. But no matter where you go, you’ll strike gold.

For a hands-on experience, visitors can try fig picking at Glen Ewin or strawberry picking at Beerenberg. These activities not only offer fresh, delicious produce but also connect you with the land.

A great spot for lunch is The Stirling Hotel, where the menu is as inviting as the ambiance. It’s a perfect stop to refuel and enjoy the local flavours.

Those looking to extend their stay can check into Mount Lofty House. It’s an ideal base for exploring the area and it wins awards regularly (in 2023, it was named amongst the Best of the Best in these international awards).
