As of midnight tonight, anyone who has been in Greater Melbourne on or after 4 February 2021 will be prohibited from entering South Australia.
The lockout does not apply to Essential Travellers or exempt people (returning SA resident, genuine relocation, fleeing Domestic Violence), however those exempt will be required to self-quarantine at a suitable place for 14 days upon arrival and submit to COVID-19 testing on days one, five, and 12.
This also includes a person or a close contact of a person who has been physically present on the site of the Holiday Inn (Airport) 10/14 Centre Rd, Melbourne Airport VIC 3045 on or after 12.01 am 27 January 2021 for longer than 15 minutes.
People from regional Victoria will still be permitted to travel into South Australia.
Chief Public Health Officer Professor Nicola Spurrier commented it is SA Health’s understanding the recently reported cases in Victoria are likely one of the more transmissible COVID-19 variants.
Professor Spurrier stated she is concerned but no changes will be made to South Australia’s current restrictions.
She stressed the importance of checking into public venues using the provided QR codes, and reminded anyone who has been to Victoria to check the list of current COVID-19 exposure sites, which can be found here: https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/case-locations-and-outbreaks-covid-19
