Adelaide’s popular 104.7 Classic Triple M breakfast hosts, Roo & Ditts, have recently teamed up with Auto Masters and Soles4Souls Australia in a community campaign. Aimed at supporting the health and wellbeing of socially disadvantaged families, the organisations are working together to provide them with sporting footwear.
The campaign involves individuals donating their unwanted sporting boots and shoes to one of 18 Auto Masters locations across Adelaide. From there, Soles4Souls Australia collect the boots and take them to Wesley Social Enterprises where they will be given new life and functionality, before being distributed to South Australian families who can use them.
This is not a new feat for Soles4Souls. Established in 2011, this South Australian charity collects new and gently worn shoes and distributes them to those in need throughout Australia and overseas. Their aim is to improve the health of communities as well as provide opportunities in education, employment and sport.
Mark ‘Roo’ Ricciuto elaborates on the drive behind 104.7 Classic Triple M’s initiative for this program, “Plenty of kids struggle to play sport due to tight family budgets and the high costs associated with buying the right equipment and safety gear. We want to give these kids the opportunity to get involved and experience the social inclusion that comes with extra-curricular activities.”
Taylor Walker, captain of the Adelaide Football Club, was the first to kick off the campaign by donating a pair of his old football boots.
“It’s great for someone like Tex Walker to contribute to this initiative. As captain of the Adelaide Football Club, he is looked up to by so many aspiring sporting stars and enthusiastic children across the state,” says Chris ‘Ditts’ Dittmar.
Media and Marketing Manager of Auto Masters, Carl Meyers, is proud to be associated with this campaign. “This is a great opportunity to give back to the local community. Soles4Souls will be distributing all donated boots to local families and sporting clubs, so you know you are helping fellow South Australians in need,” says Mr Meyers.
For further information on the campaign please visit the Triple M website or any of the 18 Auto Masters branches across Adelaide.
