As our football-mad state embraces another weekend of footy, Gather Round is inspiring more than just athletes. Independent Adelaide musician Caitlin Webb has released an uplifting Gather Round track that will get footy fans dancing in the stands.

“For Adelaide in general, we get overlooked for a lot of things. Gather round is a great way to showcase what we have as a state, but in terms of footy, we are a footy state,” says Caitlin.

“When we had Gather Round last year, I loved the atmosphere, love the meaning behind it. I came home from that weekend and was like, how can I encapsulate what it is about and the feelings and emotions. I felt they were missing a bit of an anthem,” Caitlin said.

Caitlin’s song titled ‘GATHER ROUND’ is an uplifting pop track that will perfectly soundtrack your 2024 Gather Round. The song exudes pure positive energy, celebrating the city of Adelaide and the exciting game of footy.

GATHER ROUND is a proudly South Australian project, from production to the cover art. The awesome cover art was made by an Adelaide designer, Ashley Giles and was produced by JETHRO at the Bunkr Creative studio.

From chants to team songs like “Never Tear Us Apart” by INXS which Port Adelaide has claimed, music plays an integral part in the sports fan experience.

“A good song is a great way to be a part of something. Music plays on your emotions. For example, I love nothing more than going to the game knowing right before the bounce, you get the team pumped and hear the crowd singing and coming together in unison. It’s an electric atmosphere,” Caitlin said.

The Port Adelaide fan has been singing and making music from around the age of nine; receiving her first guitar at ten, and wrote her first song at the age of eleven.

“I listen to a lot of different types of music. I grew up loving Justin Bieber, One Direction, I loved the fandoms and being a part of something,” says Caitlin.

In 2014, Caitlin partnered with her favourite club, Port Adelaide, to sell her single ‘Not Giving Up’, donating the proceeds to Foodbank SA, a local charity.

“I’ve grown up supporting the Port Adelaide Football Club and I was inspired by their incredible turnaround and their determination to overcome adversity, so much so that I created this song, centred around Port Adelaide’s motto of never giving up,” she said.

In 2015, Caitlin was diagnosed with endometriosis and struggled with depression and anxiety which impacted her drive to pursue a music career. After taking much-needed time to heal, seeing The Vamps live and receiving advice from Australian indie darling, Ruel, her creative spark reignited and she began to write new music.

Caitlin’s goal is to inspire listeners to not give up on their dreams. If it helps one person through a tough time, it will all be worth it, fulfilling her true purpose in life – making music and helping others.

“As an upcoming artist trying to work out my sound, I do not want my music to be put in a box,” says Caitlin.

AFL fans from all over the country are gathering in Adelaide to celebrate everything football. Gather Round in 2024 is set to be an exciting event for football and arts fans alike.

Almost 200,000 tickets have been snapped up for the nine matches happening from April 13th to 16th at three of Adelaide’s best footy venues: Adelaide Oval and Norwood Oval in the CBD, as well as Recreation Park in the Adelaide Hills.

Stream GATHER ROUND on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, YouTube Music, Tidal, iTunes, Deezer, Anghami, and Pandora.
