Summer has arrived in South Australia, and with it, the promise of a record-breaking tourism season. To kick things off, two of the state’s biggest tourism players, West Beach Parks and Discovery Parks, have announced an exciting new partnership. From December 1st, the popular West Beach Parks holiday park will be known as Discovery Parks – West Beach Parks.
This collaboration brings together the best of both worlds: West Beach Parks’ award-winning facilities and prime location, and Discovery Parks’ extensive network and loyal customer base. With bookings already up 15% for February 2025 compared to the same time last year, it seems this partnership is set to make a splash.
Tourism Minister Zoe Bettison is enthusiastic about the timing of this new venture, saying, “The Discovery Parks – West Beach Parks brand partnership is perfectly timed to leverage the non-stop major events held in Adelaide over summer, which we know helped contribute to the record numbers seen earlier this year.” With a jam-packed events calendar, including the Christmas Test Match at Adelaide Oval, the Adelaide International, the Santos Tour Down Under, and LIV Golf Adelaide, there’s no doubt Adelaide will be a hive of activity this summer.
Minister Bettison added, “And of course, this leads into our world-renowned festival season including Adelaide Fringe, Adelaide Festival, and WOMADelaide – which helped to drive the record-breaking month we saw in March.”
Kate Anderson, Chief Executive Officer of West Beach Parks, is equally optimistic about the future. “It’s great to be opening our holiday park under the Discovery Parks brand on the first day of what is expected to be a record summer season. Early bookings for 2025 suggest we will surpass the number of 10,095 guests staying at our park in January and February, bringing in much-needed tourism dollars to our state and local community.”
Anderson also highlighted a growing trend of South Australians choosing to holiday closer to home. “We know more South Australians, particularly families, are choosing to holiday closer to home, it’s why we are investing in our holiday park’s facilities and guest experiences and collaborating with like-minded local partners to leverage our mutual strengths.”
Discovery Parks Founder and Chief Executive Officer Grant Wilckens echoed this sentiment. “With summer holidays kicking into gear, we’re excited to kick off our partnership as Discovery Parks – West Beach Parks, bringing together two of the most iconic tourism brands in the state. This partnership forms part of our long-term commitment to South Australian tourism and follows recent major investments in key tourism destinations including Wilpena Pound, Goolwa, Clare, Coffin Bay and Hahndorf. Backed by the combined customer reach of our brands, we have a fantastic opportunity to grow our share of the holiday market and drive further visitation into SA.”
So, what can holidaymakers expect from Discovery Parks – West Beach Parks? The park offers a wide range of accommodation options, from caravan and tent sites to self-catering cabins, glamping tents, and even a luxurious three-bedroom beach house. And with a heated lagoon-style swimming pool, a brand new play space, an outdoor cinema, games rooms, and a licensed kiosk, there’s something for everyone.
With its prime location, top-notch facilities, and the backing of two tourism giants, Discovery Parks – West Beach Parks is poised for a stellar summer season. It seems South Australia is the place to be this summer!
