Health Minister Stephen Wade and Chief Public Health Office Nicola Spurrier have held a press conference today to provide South Australia’s COVID-19 update.
There are no further cases from the Parafield Cluster. There are 33 cases linked to the cluster, and 1900 close contacts in quarantine linked to the cluster.
There are 17 active cases now. South Australia has had a total of 561 cases. 3421 tests were done yesterday, which Nicola said was concerning as it’s a huge drop in testing numbers.
There has been concerning turn of events in the past 24 hours however. A person linked to the Intensive English Language Institute, Flinders University Sturt Campus, who was required to stay in quarantine for 14 days, breached their quarantine period and spent a day shopping. While they had initially tested negative, they have since tested positive, and were infectious during the time they spent out of quarantine. As a result, there are now new venues listed, which were visited by this person. The complete list will be available on the SA Health website.
Four locations are on high alert.
Anyone who has been at any of these four locations, need to be tested immediately, even if you have no symptoms whatsoever, and isolate until you get your results.
You do not need to self-quarantine if you receive a negative test but you should monitor for symptoms and get re-tested immediately if symptoms develop.
