SA Vendors Get A Showcase In New Westfield Marion Development

SA creative makers will have the chance to reach a huge audience with the crew from gathered. set to curate a weekly stall as part of a new Market space at Westfield Marion.

Ah the suburbs, bastion of countless rows of takeaway chicken shops, the best bakeries in the state, hydroponics businesses, charity shops and massive shopping malls. Why head into town when you can get everything you need in one location that never has enough parking? Those hours spent stalking a spot is time you’ll never get back. But perhaps it’s made all the better by glow of fluorescent lights and the promise that you can find everything you need under the one massive roof offline.

But perhaps this is set to change, as Westfield Marion are set for a massive downstairs redevelopment, kind of like a huge indoor market square. Dubbed the ‘Fresh Food Market’, there will be around 30 specialty retailers, an ALDI (yep) but that’s really not what we’re interested in.

Through the middle of the new market will be a series of small vendor carts, one in particular which we are very attracted to. The crew from gathered. Markets, strong supporters of South Australian makers and creators, will be doing what we think is a first in SA and curating a new vendor week by week. This is an expansion on the idea of their Queens Theatre regular markets which solely feature the best SA creatives they can track down.

This weekly showcase though is going to be on the next level and the very idea that individual small business owners and often product makers will have the chance to be exposed to the literal hundreds of thousands of shoppers who pour through the Marion centres doors each week represents an amazing opportunity for exposing creatives to an unimaginably large audience.

The cart space will be 2m x 2m, plus the additional spaces each side to be used for displays, and is set to begin in August this year. The lease is going to run through the Xmas and New Year period as well, which seems prime for showcasing amazing and unique gift ideas. gathered. founder Jenna O’Dell is currently seeking expressions of interest for stall holders to fill dates coming up.
