SA wine producer brings chocolate inspired wine in time for Easter

Easter doesn’t only need to be for the chocolate lover, it can also be for the wine lover! Zonte’s Footstep has made an Easter Pack with Chocolate goodness.

For those looking to enjoy Easter a little differently this year, independent local wine brand Zonte’s Footstep has pulled together a scrumptious Easter Wine Pack, which includes CHOCOLATE WINE.

This Easter 4-pack, priced at $110, includes two bottles of Zonte’s Footstep 2019 Chocolate Factory Shiraz, and two bottles of its brand new 2021 Splitting Hares Tempranillo Grenache. There will also be a chocolatey treat in there, just for you.

The fruit for the Chocolate Factory Shiraz has been sourced from the Blewitt Springs sub-region of McLaren Vale, boasting deep purple and garnet-purple hues. As for the chocolate aspect – that comes from the aromas and texture.

“When Shiraz grapes are grown in the warm Mediterranean climate of McLaren Vale, they create wines with milk chocolate nuances… in a way, McLaren Vale is our very own Chocolate Factory,” said Ruth Harris from Zonte’s Footstep.

“Enjoy a hint of cocoa in the aromas and also the soft feeling of the tannins which are reminiscent of how chocolate melts in the mouth.

“But make no mistake, it’s not a sweet wine. It’s Shiraz, so it still tastes of plums and berries and juicy black cherries but with a signature chocolatey goodness.”

Willy Wonka would certainly approve.

But Easter’s not only about chocolate. What about the easter bunny? Zonte’s Footstep have that covered too, with their brand new ‘Splitting Hares’ wine sporting two bunnies on the label.

It’s a blend of Tempranillo and Grenache, so named because getting the proportions of the blend right came down to splitting hairs – the winemaker adjusting it in 1% increments until the perfect balance was achieved. This is the point at which the juicy, fragrant Grenache just tames the savoury chewiness of the Tempranillo. It’s a flavourful wine with medium body that is eminently quaffable.

Together the Chocolate Factory and Splitting Hares wines make the perfect Easter combination.

“Easter doesn’t only need to be for the chocolate lover, it can also be for the wine lover!” said Ruth.

Established in 2003, Zonte’s Footstep is a proudly independent South Australian wine producer with vineyards in regions across SA, including McLaren Vale, Langhorne Creek, the Adelaide Hills, and the Barossa.
