Shaw + Smith, one of SA’s most celebrated wineries, has whipped up the perfect Father’s Day event, inviting families to a fun-filled, multi‑generational wine flight featuring eight hand-picked pours.
The upcoming event was inspired by Shaw + Smith’s CEO and Master of Wine, David LeMire, who, after seeing a friend and their daughter connecting over a glass at a Melbourne event, was inspired to create something special for dads and their adult children this Father’s Day.
Hospitality and Public Relations Manager Mathilda Hill-Smith shared that the team hope this will bring families together and see wine through old and new eyes.
“Seeing a father and daughter share their love of wine, and embarking on a new experience together while learning about the flavours of wine, sparked an idea for David to create an event where families can connect through wine tasting,” Mathilda says.
“As I get older and build up my knowledge of wine, I’ve always thought it would be amazing to introduce young adults, so we really thought this was a great idea.
“We wanted to make a generational event and have our winemakers and members talk about their history of winemaking while sharing a glimpse of their daily life of making wine in the Adelaide Hills.”
Shaw + Smith was established in the late 80s by cousins Michael Hill-Smith MW and Martin Shaw. They have a focus on varieties that suit the cooler Hills climate, like Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Shiraz, which are some of the varieties you’ll be able to try on Father’s Day.
“With Father’s Day coming up, Offspring will be the perfect event for families who love wine and want to experience something different, other than a simple wine tasting.”
“There are tickets still available with more information on our website about what wines will be introduced and pricing,” Mathilda says.
The event will be held in the Tasting Room at the beautiful Shaw + Smith.
