SACA and Adelaide Strikers team up with Bowlsome in local partnership

The South Australian Cricket Association (SACA) and Adelaide Strikers have partnered with Bowlsome, a local health food company. This summer, Bowlsome will provide nutritious, ready-made meals to both the domestic and W/BBL teams to support their performance.

Founded in 2017 by Danielle Elia, Bowlsome has quickly gained popularity and recognition in the health food industry. Danielle’s journey began when her young son was diagnosed with Urticaria, which forced a major change in his diet. By removing dairy, gluten, and preservatives, and focusing on fresh, unprocessed ingredients, she saw a dramatic improvement in his health. This experience inspired her to create Bowlsome, with a focus on nutritious, whole foods that support overall well-being.

Bowlsome started in a small 40sqm store at Henley Beach, with a simple concept: serve quick, nutritious meals mainly in bowl form. The idea resonated with customers, leading to the expansion of four independent stores. But the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic pushed the brand to adapt. In January 2021, Bowlsome launched a ready-to-eat meal line in Independent Supermarkets and later expanded to OTR locations across metropolitan Adelaide.

“Our shift to supermarkets enabled us to elevate the standard of pre-made meals, maintaining our commitment to minimally processed and nutrient-dense ingredients,” Danielle Elia said. The meals are largely gluten and dairy-free, catering to a wide range of dietary needs and preferences.

Bowlsome’s collaborate with chefs and nutritionists, and source ingredients primarily from local growers, so that each meal is not only of high quality, but also supports local industries.

“Our aim has consistently been to deliver nutritious, trustworthy food solutions readily accessible to the community without compromising quality,” Elia said. The introduction of a home delivery service in 2023 has amplified this mission. The service caters to Adelaideans seeking healthy meal options delivered directly to their homes, and according to Elia, is “growing at an unbelievable rate.”

“Providing our meals to such high-performance teams like the Strikers underlines our commitment to quality and nutrition, ensuring players are optimally fuelled for both training and match days,” Elia said.
