Salena Estate Wines has officially launched their brand new cellar door and restaurant named Cucina 837 at Salena at their winery in Loxton. As part of their $10 million dollar site-wide expansion including new storage and warehousing facilities, offices and meeting spaces as well as the brand new cellar door and restaurant.
“After what feels like an eternity of planning, building and prepping, we are so close to opening,” says Salena Franchitto, Marketing Manager and daughter of owners Bob and Sylvia Franchitto.
“We’ve been watching the building going up on site since March and it’s been so exciting watching it take shape. Even if we have had to suffer through listening to the construction sounds for months, we know the beautiful stonework surrounding most of the façade will be worth it,” she continues.

With plans for a huge welcoming outdoor area encompassing cosy furniture and relaxed picnic areas on the grass, it’s primed to be packed with people all summer. As for when it starts to cool down, with a spacious 50-person capacity inside, and 60-person capacity enclosed outside with blinds and heaters, guests will be comfortable and toasty-warm all year round.
Now for the important stuff, wine and food!
They have signed on their amazing Italian chef Vincenzo Gallo, which local Riverlanders may recognise from his gorgeous converted camper trailer come food truck ‘Italian Food Made with Love’. They will be serving up freshly made pasta and wood oven pizzas alongside traditional antipasto platters.

As for wines, Salena Estate are known for the large selection of wine in their repertoire; from crisp whites, roses and sparkling to keep you cool in summer, through to rich and moorish reds and tawnys to warm your soul in winter. The hardest thing will be trying to decide what to have.
Other components of the multi-million upgrade include the expanded warehousing facilities will include 3,000sqm of undercover additional storage and a new workspace for the maintenance department. New offices and meeting room spaces for the increased number of overseas clients. In addition, is the abundance of upgraded machinery including de-palletiser, second bottling line, new screw press , upgrades to the original bottling line and crasher area upgrade. This has allowed for their crush capacity to over double in capacity.

Bob Franchitto, owner and Managing Director of Salena Estate Wines stated, “As our business has grown rapidly over the last few years we have needed new facilities to accommodate for the increased amount of business.”
With staff having tripled during that time to 60 employees, and branching into several new international markets, it’s little wonder Salena Estate are undertaking such major developments. This expansion will occupy some of the 500 acres of land that are owned and operated by Salena Estate Wines.

The cellar door and restaurant is the last part of this expansion and upgrade.
