One of South Australia’s most popular, free community events, Salty Sips, is set to make a weekly comeback with the arrival of warmer weather. After a season of monthly offerings, the popular sunrise yoga and ocean dip sessions will increase their frequency to every Wednesday morning, alternating between Henley Square and Glenelg.
The sessions, hosted by Adelaide’s Human.Kind Studios, start with 30 minutes of vinyasa flow yoga at 6:30am, followed by a mass ocean dip at 7am. This unique combination of relaxation and revitalisation via yoga and cold water immersion has captured the hearts of many locals. The event, which sometimes draws crowds exceeding 500 participants, is especially noted for its positive impact on mental health and overall well-being.
Lead facilitator Triton Tunis-Mitchell spoke about the community’s growing attachment to the event, saying “Salty Sips is one of our favourite parts of the week and we’re stoked to be putting it back on weekly. People who brave the early morning wake-up and join us never regret it, and we see more and more familiar faces each time.”
Human.Kind Studios, which touts itself as Adelaide’s largest yoga studio, is also leveraging the popularity of Salty Sips to support environmental causes. With the launch of their new charity initiative, the Impact Fund, participants are encouraged to make donations that will go directly towards projects aimed at protecting oceans, beaches, and forests.
Triton Tunis-Mitchell outlined the intentions behind the Impact Fund, explaining “Salties is our free offering to the community. But with our new charity Impact Fund, there’s now an opportunity for those with the means, to pay it forward. Our oceans and forests are under a lot of pressure right now, so it’s a critical time to step up and help out. If everyone who joins us at Salties tips in a little bit of spare change each week then we can make a seriously big impact together.”
Salty Sips aims not only to foster a sense of community and health but also to become a proactive entity in environmental conservation. The organisers believe that the Salty Sips community can significantly contribute to safeguarding the local natural habitats loved by many.
The next session of Salty Sips is scheduled for the upcoming Wednesday, November 6th at Glenelg, followed by alternating locations each week until the year’s end:
– 13 November at Henley
– 20 November at Glenelg
– 27 November at Henley
– 4 December at Glenelg
– 11 December at Henley
– 18 December at Glenelg
