Sample the new menu at Adelaide’s highest dining room

Hardy’s Verandah at Mount Lofty House has unveiled its new winter menu with South Australia celebrated in every dish.

Australasia’s leading hotel, Mount Lofty House, has launched its decadent winter menu at its three-hatted Hardy’s Verandah Restaurant, with South Australia’s finest produce celebrated in every dish.

Head Chef Jin Choi has been working with his team to source the very best ingredients from their community of local producers, particularly across the Adelaide Hills, to curate the winter menu.

“Winter is my favourite time of year for seasonal produce. We are lucky to be able to source such fresh and premium produce with abundant flavours so close by,” said Chef Jin Choi.

“A highlight this winter is the marron from Kangabbi Farm in the Adelaide Hills. Inspired by South East Asian flavours, the marron served blanched and wrapped with minced quail, milk skin, tamarind and chilli paste and is a true delight.”

“Another favourite this winter is Hahndorf Venison which we have prepared with our Hardy’s Verandah spice, caramelised Jerusalem artichoke, pickle, black garlic and cabbage jus.  Adding a little bit of theatre, it is served under a cloud of wood fired smoke in a glass cloche.”

“Our 170-year-old wine cellar has also been quietly aging our duck. We are serving it with the season’s rich blackberry sauce, witlof salad, parsnip puree and swede pickle.

“Our desserts showcase the best of the season. The crème brulee is inspired by winter citrus fruits and served with native lime, meringue and salted coconut sorbet.   The peanut mousse is a great surprise for any guest, with a seamless caramel glaze, caramelised popcorn and milk ice cream.

“The Hardy Verandah team are really happy with our winter menu, it’s a privilege to be able to work with such great produce from the Adelaide Hills and we love sharing it with all of our guests.

Hardy’s Verandah winter menu has been thoughtfully paired with matching wines by new Head Sommelier Abhas Saxena.

“The winter menu wine pairings are a celebration of produce that has been prepared with Chef Jin’s Asian influences and are exclusively paired to South Australian wines. They represent the versatility this great region offers, ones that are true to their terroir and wines that are breaking boundaries,” said Abhas.

“The wine styles vary with every course, from flavours to textures and they lead every guest through a gastronomic journey filled with stories and surprises.”

Abhas has also curated a premium wine match showcasing some international styles, from classical pairings to unconventional, and is also available to tour guests through the restored 170-year-old sandstone cellar directly beneath the restaurant, should diners wish to wonder down, peruse our 1000 bottle cellar and personalise their selection.

And of course, the best way to enjoy Hardy’s Verandah Restaurant is to couple it with a stay at Mount Lofty House or Sequoia Lodge.

Hardy’s Verandah Restaurant is a culinary journey through the Adelaide Hills and located just 15 minutes from Adelaide CBD. The Adelaide Hills, the gateway to South Australia’s top wineries and five of the world-class wine regions all lie within an hour’s drive of the historic Mount Lofty House Estate.
