The 2020 SANFL Statewide Super Women’s League finals kick off this weekend with the top 4 playing off in the semi-finals at Thebarton Oval.
The undefeated minor premiers, North Adelaide, will face back-to-back League Premiers South Adelaide from 10:30am in the second semi-final, with the winner booking themselves a ticket to the Grand Final.
This will be followed by the knock-out first semi-final between Norwood and West Adelaide at 12:20pm.
SANFL General Manager Football Matt Duldig said it was exciting to see the competition culminate in the Finals Series after one of the most challenging of seasons.
“We would like to acknowledge and pay tribute to all eight clubs in our competition and their players, coaches and volunteers who have worked incredibly hard across the season which was interrupted for almost four months with the coronavirus pandemic.
“They should all be extremely proud of what they have achieved this season and the way they have shown resilience, care and commitment.
“The finals series is shaping up to be an exciting three weeks of women’s footy with South Adelaide, Norwood and West Adelaide all chasing the undefeated North Adelaide – we wish all four teams the best of luck.”
North Adelaide has endured finals heartache in the competition’s first three years, losing the 2017 and 2019 grand finals while placing third in 2018.
South Adelaide’s only loss this season was to the Roosters by four points in Round 4. Since then, the Panthers have banked six wins in succession as they seek to win three consecutive premierships.
Norwood has featured in every finals campaign since the competition’s 2017 inception, winning the inaugural premiership.
Meanwhile fourth-placed West Adelaide, after narrowly missing out on playing finals last year, is featuring in its first major round in four seasons.
