The June long weekend is about to level up, because SANFL’s ‘Kick n Sip’ street festival is back for round two. Taking over Thomas Farms Oval in Unley on Monday, June 9th, the festival-meets-footy event is going to be an epic day of food, entertainment, sport, and good vibes.

Hosted by the Sturt Football Club and supported by the City of Unley, ‘Kick n Sip’ will run alongside Sturt’s marquee Hostplus SANFL League clash against Norwood. They’ll be turning the King’s Birthday public holiday into one massive celebration on and off the field.

“The Kick n Sip Festival is all about elevating the match day experience beyond the footy. The festival is a great example of SANFL and clubs working together to bring fans, families, and first-timers together,” shared SANFL General Manager of Football, Matt Duldig.

“The Norwood v Sturt match-up is always a cracking game on the King’s Birthday public holiday, it’s surrounded by live entertainment, interactive activities, and a strong community vibe that turns a game into a full-day celebration. It’s one of those occasions where everyone – footy fanatic or not – can come along and have a great time.”

From 11am to 4pm, Trimmer and Oxford Terraces, which run alongside the oval, will be partially closed and transformed into a festival precinct. There will be a great lineup of food trucks slinging wood-fired pizzas from Frankie & Sons Gourmet Pizzas and everything from seafood to paella and sweet treats. There will also be pop-up bars pouring local wines from Farmers Leap Wines, craft gin, tequila and cold beers.

Inside the grounds, the good vibes continue with a Canadian Club Bar and Powerade pop-up trailer.

As the day is part of SANFL’s Super Match series, fans can expect free giveaways, family zones, mini golf, table tennis, DJ Miah from Fresh 92.7, and the always-popular West End beer backpacks making the rounds.

And of course, the main event, a full day of footy action. The SANFL Reserves hit the ground at 9:40am, followed by the Hostplus SANFLW League at 12:10pm, before Sturt and Norwood go head to head in the Hostplus SANFL League clash at 2:30pm.

“The iconic rivalry between Sturt and Norwood takes on extra significance with the Trims Cup again on the line,” shared Matt.

“The winner will take home not only bragging rights, but also the distinctive Trims Cup – featuring an authentic RM Williams boot mounted on a custom platform. The trophy is currently held by Sturt, setting the stage for another thrilling chapter in this historic matchup. Fans are also part of the action, with two lucky supporters to be randomly drawn to win a pair of RM Williams boots each as part of a special fan engagement promotion.”

Tickets are available now on the Sturt Football Club website or at the gate on game day. Adults are $20, and concessions are $12. Best of all, access to the ‘Kick n Sip Festival’ is included in your match day ticket, so if you’re already going, you’ll be able to check out the festival.

Throughout the season, there are nine SANFL Super Matches. Still to come are games at Alberton Oval on June 14th, Stratarama Stadium on June 22nd, Hisense Stadium on July 5th, and finally Prospect Oval on August 16th. The festival vibes will be in full swing at each of these games.

So whether you’re cheering from the boundary or soaking up the street party atmosphere, ‘Kick n Sip’ is shaping up to be the ultimate way to spend your June long weekend.
