Just weeks after winning the coveted accolade of ‘South Australia’s Best Restaurant’ Maxwell Wines is set to host a unique fine dining experience through a new partnership with the Victorian winery, Ten Minutes by Tractor (TMBT). The collaboration will bring together celebrated chefs and an assortment of fine wines for two exclusive culinary events – one in McLaren Vale and the other, Mornington Peninsula.
The first of these events will unfold in McLaren Vale on Saturday, September 21st, offering guests a six-course tasting menu. Chefs Fabian Lehmann of Maxwell Wines and Hayden Ellis of TMBT will lead the creation of these courses. Each dish will be paired with wines selected from the offerings of both estates. Featured wines include Maxwell Wines’ Tasmanian Sparkling and Old Vine Grenache, alongside TMBT’s 2019 SV3 Chardonnay and 2022 Coolart Road Pinot Noir.
Fabian Lehmann, executive chef at Maxwell Wines, shared “We’re thrilled to see this partnership come to life – we were recently awarded South Australia restaurant of the year by Gourmet Traveller and Ten Minutes by Tractor consistently has two hats, so it’s an exciting alignment. Hayden and I both lead restaurants that are grounded in fine dining but with a focus on local produce, so it’s great to see what our joint vision can bring to McLaren Vale and Mornington.”

Jeremy Maxwell, General Manager at Maxwell Wines, also commented on the aim of the events. “Our collaboration with Ten Minutes by Tractor represents a celebration of the best in both winemaking and food. We are excited to offer McLaren Vale locals the chance to experience a two hatted restaurant and signature Mornington wines, without having to travel to Victoria.”
From the perspective of TMBT, Head Chef Hayden Ellis shared, “Collaborating with Maxwell Wines is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the synergy between our two regions and culinary approaches. For me, this partnership is about more than just food and wine – it’s about crafting a unique and immersive dining experience for our guests, whether they’re in McLaren Vale or Mornington Peninsula.”
Tickets for the event in McLaren Vale on September 21st are priced at $195 per person, including wine pairings. The second event will take place at Ten Minutes by Tractor Restaurant, Main Ridge, on Friday October 11th, with tickets available for $295 per person.

Both chefs have illustrious backgrounds in high-end culinary settings. Lehmann, originally from Germany, has a history with Michelin-starred establishments before moving to Australia, where he now incorporates his European training with South Australia’s top produce. Ellis, originally from New Zealand, brings years of experience from notable kitchens such as The Fat Duck in Bray and The Ledbury in London.
