SA’s AFL Teams Won’t Fly To Queensland After New Contact Training Announcement

The news means neither team will fly to the Gold Coast on Sunday as intended.

The Adelaide Crows and Port Adelaide Power will resume contact training as of Monday May 25, after an announcement made this afternoon.

Police Commissioner Grant Stevens has given the teams permission to undertake full squad training sessions, including tackling, contact, and match simulation in South Australia.

Commissioner Stevens has directed that these exemptions will be subject to a range of conditions.

Players must remain in their respective places of residence and will only be permitted to travel to and from the particular training venue when required to do so.

The resumption of contact training will allow the two clubs to train on a comparative basis to other AFL teams preparing interstate.

The news means neither team will fly to the Gold Coast on Sunday as intended.

More to come.
