Award-winning Adelaide restaurant Concubine is adding yet another trophy to its collection, having been named South Australia’s Best Chinese Restaurant at the 2024 Restaurant & Catering Hostplus Awards for Excellence.
“We are super excited,” Manager KK Man says. “This year is a little bit different for us. After COVID, a lot has changed, and business is getting harder for everyone. We’re still trying our best with the service, the food, and our wine – we want it to be the best for all our customers.”
Located on Gouger Street, Concubine is an ultra-stylish venue with lively alfresco areas and intimate indoor dining. With a sophisticated menu, Concubine has become well known as a refined Chinatown venue with fantastic food and wine.
While the dining experience is informal, the atmosphere still has a formal touch, setting Concubine apart from other Chinese restaurants in Adelaide.
The Restaurant & Catering Hostplus Awards for Excellence took place in late September at a glamorous gala dinner at Morphettville Racecourse, celebrating the best in hospitality dining and service across various categories. This year, Concubine faced strong competition from Empress Restaurant in Toorak Gardens and Ying Chow Restaurant in Adelaide, but ultimately took home the top prize.
This latest awards joins an impressive list of awards for the restaurant. From 2018 to 2023, Concubine was named Best Chinese Restaurant five times.

Concubine has a huge menu filled with local produce and authentic flavours. The South Australian prawns are a go-to pick, and the long list of entrees and mains means multiple visits are necessary.
Guests can expect to find all their Chinese restaurant favorites on the menu, including Kung Pao chicken, Pad Thai noodles, and salt & pepper tofu. For something unique, Chung highly recommends the ?? Chilli chicken, describing it as “amazing.” The team puts considerable effort into making each dish stand out.
