SA’s Leigh Street Wine Room named ‘Best New Haunt’ in nationwide awards

The Wineslinger Awards are decided by over 100 of the country’s leading sommeliers, winemakers, hospitality heavyweights, and journalists.

Adelaide’s Leigh Street Wine Room has been named Best New Haunt in the 2020 Wineslinger Awards.

The virtual presentation took place last night, with the winning Wineslinger title going to Carlton Wine Room (Carlton, Victoria), Maverick, the award for a venue pushing the boundaries of possibility, to Snack Man (Fortitude Valley, Queensland), and People’s Choice to Union Street Wine (Geelong, Victoria).

Heralded as the “guru’s guide” to Australia’s best wine haunts, the Wineslinger Awards are decided by over 100 of the country’s leading sommeliers, winemakers, hospitality heavyweights, and journalists.

COVID-19 has been a trying year for the hospitality industry, with many venues facing temporary or permanent closure due to government restrictions or fall in business, and adaption to a COVID-safe world.

Leigh Street Wine Room has become something of an Adelaide institution in the short time since its inception in 2019. The natural wine bar boasts over 400 wines and a food offering locals return to time and time again.
