In the lead up to the 2012 London Olympic Games, Samsung recently ran a competition across 15 countries to search for Samsung Global Bloggers, who would be vying for a spot to cover the upcoming Games.
Out of thousands of contestants, South Australia's own Nathan Strempel was selected to report on the Olympics in written and video blog form. He’ll be joining 4 other Aussies on the adventure.
Nathan became a media personality after his stint in the ’08 Big Brother series; when he became the host of Internet show "Xtreme Sports Hour" and MC Commentator for most Australian National Sporting Leagues.
The victorious application was a video of Strempel sporting an Australian Women's Basketball lycra bodysuit across various parts of Melbourne. Watch it here.
Since being selected, Nathan has already completed his first task as Samsung Global Blogger. What was supposed to be a 10-minute interview with Lauren Jackson (Captain of the Opals basketball team and arguably Australia's best female basketball player) turned into a 1 and a half hour chat over breakfast. Nathan says 'Lauren is a great ambassador for basketball and the Olympics' and that being a mad basketball fan, he and Lauren had lots to talk about.
'I'm excited for a once in a life time opportunity and something that could be a huge career stepping stone' says Strempel.
In addition to his Olympic trip, Nathan will receive a Samsung Galaxy Note or Samsung mobile phone, a week's fully paid accommodation with all the other Samsung Global Bloggers, plus the possibility of being featured on a billboard in London's Piccadilly Circus.
We look forward to cheering Nathan on as he represents Australia at the 2012 London Olympic Games. We know he will win gold when it comes to charming the world with his Australian spirit and reporting skills as the Samsung Global Blogger.
