One of our fave vegan ice creameries is heading to the city for your weekday lunchtime dessert fix.
Adelaideans can best the heat this summer with Sassi Ice Cream whose pop-up in Coromandel Place is open Monday through Friday.
Since 2019, Sassi Ice Cream, the vegan cold treat brand founded by former MasterChef contestant Huda Al-Sultan and her husband Adam Alhajji, has mostly existed as a pop-up food stall at events across the states.
The delicious vegan ice cream range is inspired by traditional Middle Eastern flavours and made using organic coconut milk in South Australia.
With delicious flavours on offer, customers can choose from Tahini Twist and Saffron Fever to Baklawa Dream and Sage with Pomegranate Swirl, all inspired by Huda’s heritage.
Fans of the ice creamery have also been able to purchase 500ml packs of Sassi goods online, but the ability to head out for a spontaneous cup or cone has to date been heavily dependent on Adelaide’s event calendar.
No longer dependent on local markets and village fairs to get your fix of Sassi, the brand opened gelaterias first standalone store in the Adelaide CBD earlier this month, with the ice-creameries tenancy leased for six months.
The store stocks the full core range of Sassi ice creams, of which there are seven, plus it will rotate an additional two limited-edition flavours.
Sassi’s core range is Baklava Dream, Saffron Fever, Katayfe, Sage with Pomegranate Swirl, Tahini Twist, Mastic Addict and Muhallabia.
Sassi will also stock a small range of other sweets, some made by Huda and some sourced from other Adelaide makers.
The store will remain closed on weekends so the popular eatery can continue to service markets and events.
Everything in-store will be plant-based.
Sassi Ice Cream is located at 7 Coromandel Place and opens 11 am ‘til 2 pm Monday through Friday and opens 5:30 pm ’til 8 pm on Thursdays and Fridays.
