Air out those Christmas sweaters and get out those diaries, because the date for Adelaide’s German Club’s annual Wintermarkt has been announced for this year.

Continuing their annual tradition of giving attendees a little taste of a Northern Hemisphere, the Wintermarkt will be held at their Brooklyn Park location on the 16th of July.

For over 125 years SAGA, the South Australian German Association (or German Club) has been promoting and fostering German culture, language, habits and social life in South Australia. The Wintermarkt is one of the most anticipated events on the German Club’s calendar.

Other than being a highly anticipated German cultural event, it is also their contribution to South Australia’s Christmas in July festivities. Previous years have been a hit and even though details are still to be announced, it looks like this one will be the best yet.

What does the Wintermarkt normally have in store for patrons?

It is warming your hands on a cup of traditional hot cocoa. Sampling the extensive range of delicious sweets and treats that are on offer. Purchasing handmade goods to either hang onto for proper Christmas or perhaps for a little mid-year pick me up.

If you are struggling to get into the Christmas spirit or just need something to wash down the memory of all the money you will be tempted to spend, there is always beer or a warmed gluhwein (mulled wine) on offer.

Showcasing some of the best of what Adelaide’s German community has to offer, the Wintermarkt is a place where the local independent stallholders come together to share a range of food, drinks and homemade goodies.

This is the third Wintermarkt at their Brooklyn Park location and last year online tickets sold out in advance.
