Sidewood Estate, the award-winning winery nestled in the picturesque Adelaide Hills, has launched the latest iteration of their incredible dining experience, with the unveiling of their tantalising new Spring menu.
Curated by Executive Chef Jamie Carter, this menu is a gorgeous fusion of modern Asian flavours and native Australian ingredients, which sits beautifully alongside the world-class wines, and stunning location that Sidewood is renowned for.
Carter, whose culinary journey began with a deep appreciation for Asian cuisine, shared his inspiration behind the menu saying, “Like the Sidewood owners, Owen and Cassandra Inglis, I lived in Hong Kong and grew up loving the flavours of Southeast Asia. It was no surprise when I started my culinary journey, I was drawn to the fire and flavour of Asian cuisine.”
He further elaborated on his formative years under the tutelage of Nu Suandokmai, a celebrated Thai chef. Carter explained, “He taught me the intricate simplicity of balancing the components of Asian dishes. I credit a lot of my foundation flavour building blocks to the time I spent with that team.”
The new spring menu is a showcase of Carter’s culinary expertise and passion. Each dish is thoughtfully paired with Sidewood’s award-winning wines, creating a seamless flow between courses that will leave you wanting more.
“It’s been fun to combine Asian fusion with native Australian ingredients, abundant in our region, to create something I’m very proud of, and hope everyone enjoys,” Carter shared.
The menu boasts an array of tempting new dishes. From the burrata with quandong and Szechuan pepper jam, to the blue swimmer crab dumplings, applewood smoked lamb ribs, and freshly shucked Smoky Bay oysters, there’s something to delight every palate.
“The menu is delicious and the desserts are particularly special,” Carter noted. “Although packed with flavour, the menu is light and fresh, using seasonal and local Adelaide Hills produce, perfect for spring and long lazy lunches as the temperatures start to rise. You can enjoy this menu however you like, but it works beautifully as shared plates.”
Set amidst a stunning mix of eucalyptus and landscaped gardens, the Sidewood Restaurant is only a 25-minute drive from the CBD, offering a tranquil escape from the city’s hustle and bustle.
The new spring menu is now available and can be enjoyed inside the elegant restaurant or outside, overlooking the beautiful gardens and unique art displays. The restaurant is open for lunch Wednesday to Sunday, and for dinner on Friday and Saturday.
