SBS launched their 2016 programming in style in Adelaide yesterday, giving select few (including us here at Glam) a sneaky insight into what 2016 holds for the well-known free-to-air TV channel.

SBS launched their 2016 programming in style in Adelaide yesterday, giving a select few (including us here at Glam) a sneaky insight into what 2016 holds for the well-known free-to-air TV channel.

The most exciting news to come out of SBS’s plans for 2016 is their recent announcement of a dedicated free-to-air food channel (yes, our fave), the first in Australia. It seems our collective obsession with good food and chefs has finally paid off!

Their new food channel will feature 24-7 food shows, some of which have never reached free-to-air television in Australia before. Showcasing a bevy of celebrity chefs and food personnel, the channel will let us binge watch food, while binge eating snacks.

Our televisions will now be adorned with some of our favourite chefs on a non-stop basis, including The Barefoot Contessa, Curtis Stone, Rachael Ray, and the infamous Guy Fieri.

Of course, SBS couldn’t talk about their dedicated food channel in South Australia without showcasing some of the wonderful producers and foodies we have here. So along with all of the sneak peeks and insider info, we were all treated to an amazing spread down at Sprout.

SBS Food

Rows and rows of amazing SA produce was on display for us, featuring some of our finest. Barossa Fine Foods put on a magnificent show next to Wild Loaf (to soak up the meaty-goodness) and Kris Lloyd’s Artisanal Cheeses.

Tucker’s was out in full force showcasing their tasty healthy biscuit treats, along with their fruit pastes and the newest treat to hit the Tucker’s Natural range, their fruit bites (tasty crackers with either blueberry or strawberry – look out for them they’re addictive!).

Obviously, you can’t showcase South Australian produce without including Moo Premium Yoghurts or our condiment staple, Beerenberg.

For those who appreciate the naughty things in life, Chocolat By Daniela threw out a gorgeous spread right down the table from Vale Ale, Atlas Wine Group, TAFE SA Cheesemaking, and Veneziano Coffee Roasters.

As we mentioned, the launch was held at Sprout Cooking School so, of course, some fresh salads and delicious mains were served up alongside a demonstration from kitchen geniuses Callum Hahn and Themis Chryssidis.

SBS Food

There was all most too much food to mention, although that doesn’t mean that we didn’t somehow manage to sample everything (more than a few times)!

As most food addicts will know, this announcement came back in October, so the launch wasn’t only for the food channel, it was also a peek into what’s in store for programming on SBS and the youth oriented SBS2. Trust us when we say that you’re going to want to tune in.

SBS Food Network started airing on November 17, so if you’re not already all over it then we suggest you start. You can hit it up on channel 33. To make your night really special, pair it with some of the afore mentioned SA produce as snacks. Food on TV and food in hand. Win/win!
