The current consensus firmly states that the Scandinavians know what they’re doing with furniture design.
Prizing practicality and sleek designs that are inherently timeless, BoConcept is a premium Danish furniture brand that has finally expanded to Adelaide.
Owners Rebecca and Tim Wood have expanded past owning neighbouring furniture store, Transforma, to opening the first Adelaide and 287th worldwide BoConcept store on Kensington Road.
The company was founded by two cabinetmakers in Herning in 1952, a then sleepy town in the heart of Jutland, Denmark. The founders’ ambition was simple: to introduce quality Danish furniture to a broader audience.
They did it through well-considered furniture built on the Danish design principles of simplicity, craftsmanship, elegant functionality and quality materials.
The brand believes that great design should come at no cost to its customers’ individuality which is important.
This means nearly all of its range can be customised to fit lifestyle and taste: from the freedom to change the colour and configuration of a storage system, to the numerous leathers and fabrics, available for all sofas and applicable chairs.
BoConcept also offers a comprehensive interior design service.
Their in-house, professionally trained designer will use their expertise to plan out the design of your home, to your needs and lifestyle.
This is where the Danish design becomes exceedingly helpful. Malleable, editable and suiting every manner of living; the pieces can become individual to you and your home.
In fact, this design process can begin long before you have the keys to your home. With 3D renditions of your floorplan, BoConcept designers are able to help you create the home of your dreams and ensure the pieces are ready for when you have the keys.
So you can walk into your fully furnished home.
Something BoConcept is well known for is naming their pieces after cities and it only makes sense that the Adelaide Chair be of their most iconic pieces.
With a graceful form that flows from top to bottom, the Adelaide chair is all about curves, comfort and character. It’s also extremely adaptable; add armrests if you want, or a matching seat pad for added comfort, wood or metal legs; the choices are innumerable.
BoConcept’s new store is located next to Transforma at 25 Kensington Rd, Norwood.
