Schild Estate Takes Out Two Podium Spots in World’s Best Shiraz

SA’s Schild Estate has taken both second and third place in the 2019 Syrah du Monde International Wine Competition in France.

Yes, you read that correctly. SA’s Schild Estate has taken both second AND third place in the 2019 Syrah du Monde International Wine Competition in France. SA locals know we have some bloody good wine, and the world is beginning to pay attention.

The wines in question are Schild Estate’s 2016 Moorooroo Shiraz and their 2016 Prämie Shiraz, coming in second and third place respectively. Syrah du Monde is a big deal in the wine industry, and this year included 309 of the world’s best shiraz wines. Only 15 gold medals were awarded, with the top three going to wines from SA.

Schild Estate pride themselves on a connection to their Barossa Valley land and vines. Three generations of the family currently work at the heart of the business, with Ed and Michael Schield managing the large, estate owned vineyards, specialising in producing premium wines.

Fellow Barossa Valley winemaker Kellermeister achieved first place with their 2016 Black Sash Shiraz.

The 2016 Moorooroo Shiraz is due for release in August, and the 2016 Prämie Shiraz will also be available soon.
