The Morphettville race meet is the last opportunity for stylish punters to qualify to take home bragging rights and a trip to the fashion capital of the world – Paris, France.
Oaks Day will see 16 Fashion at The Races finalists from competitions around the State battle it out in an afternoon of heart-pumping racing, flowing champagne, a stylish luncheon and of course – fabulous fashion and millinery.
The event will take place on Saturday April 26, with 15 FATR finalists already selected. The 16th will be chosen on the day to go head-to-head for the coveted crown of South Australia’s best dressed racegoer.
“The Fashion at The Races State Final luncheon is one not to be missed,” Thoroughbred Racing SA Marketing Manager Jane Wellington said.
“Not only will there be a two-course luncheon, afternoon tea and drinks on offer, there will also be a fashion parade by King William Road traders plus a showcase featuring race wear and millinery from TAFESA final year fashion students.
“Get up close and personal to everything that is glamorous and gorgeous about the races – or take the final opportunity to enter Fashion at The Races and contend for that amazing trip to Paris.”
The luncheon will be hosted by Mix 102.3’s Jodie Oddy and feature guest appearances from former My Kitchen Rules contestant Jenna Marie, aka Little Miss Cupcake, along with local singer/song writer Cat Southern.
“Fashion at The Races is a Statewide celebration of all that we love about The Races – city glamour, country style and regional pride,” Jane said.
“We’ve been so impressed with the outfits and millinery we’ve seen so far and we’re looking forward to seeing what else South Australia has to offer.
“We’ll be looking for that real ‘wow-factor’ – someone who dresses with class, style and a touch of personality.”
Jane will be joined by guest judges Adelaide fashion designer Liza Emanuele, Adelaide Confidential’s Antimo iannella and Channel 10 weather presenter Kate Freebairn on the day.
The finalists are chosen at major race days held across South Australia over a 12 month period.
The winner will receive:
- Business class return flights for two people to Paris
- Five nights’ accommodation in a five star hotel
- A new set of luggage
