With its spectacular shows, discovery trail, crazy exhibits and fun interactive challenges, Science Alive! is the ultimate science exhibition that will spark the curious mad scientist in everyone.
Running on the first weekend of August, Saturday 5 and Sunday 6, you’ll find some science fun for every family member.
Held over two full days from 9am to 5pm, you can join in celebrating South Australia’s successes in and inspiring future generations of science and technology professionals.
For anyone interested in the STEM fields of mining, geology, chemistry, environment, robotics, energy, engineering, astronomy, and bio, medical, food and sport sciences, Science Alive! will cover family fun for everyone.
With over 80 exhibitors, including the Australian Dalek Builders Union, Australian Army Drone Racing Team, Butterfly Conservation South Australia Inc, Hackerspace Adelaide, the Mars Society, SA Water, and the Andy Thomas Space Foundation to name a few, you’ll find there’s plenty to see, learn and do.
There’s entertaining shows, including Animals Anonymous Wildlife inspiring a connection to the natural world in Australia nand Nitro Nat showcasing the supreme states of matter with liquid nitrogen.
Furtheromre, Dr Quark’s Scientific Circus will explore the forces behind our favourite circus tricks, and Karno Martin and Michael Mills present ‘Wonggayerlo’ an educational and entertaining story to discuss the connection custodian and colonist cultures have with nature.
Interactive challenges offer attendees an opportunity to engage in the latest of science and technology and build the skills of science and technology that intersect with every day life.
A few of the weekends’ challenges include the ExoSphere challenge, which offers an opportunity to understand the connection between mineral and space exploration with satellite technology, the Babcock Pipeline challenge offering young learners to develop their engineering skills, and the Hold The Load Challenge inspiring future civil engineers to design and build free standing structures.
Hosted just 5 minutes from the Adelaide CBD at the Adelaide Showgrounds in Wayville, there’s never been a more accessible and fun way to experience all of science and technology’s fields in one place.
Little learners can download their passport and embark on the discovery trail and learn from the science’s big names, engage in Science Alive’s crazy challenges! Tickets are now on sale, staring at $15 for children (free under 3 years of age) and $25 for adults, with $70 family ticket packages on offer.
You’ll find the event has plenty of food options to suit all dietary preferences, requirements and restrictions, including gluten free, diary free, vegetarian, and vegan. There’s multiple ways to access the event, be it via bike track, public transport or by car, with over 2000 car parks available on site. Be sure to plan your day ahead.
