If there’s one thing everyone can agree on, it’s that scones are little bites of heaven. This Fringe season, there is something even more divine – an entire celebration dedicated to these fluffy, jam-and-cream-covered beauties, with live music and an amazing cause to boot. That’s what Sconefest has in store for you in Adelaide, brought to you by Emma-Knights Productions.
This year’s event is set to be even more scrumptious, as Sconefest mixes things up by spreading the love across two Adelaide venues, from east to west. The first session will be this coming Sunday February 23rd at 2pm at the Unley Town Hall. Then, on Tuesday February 25th, there will be another event at the Mockingbird Lounge in Glenelg South at 7pm.
A ticket to Sconefest includes access to the music concert and your first serving of freshly baked scones. These scones are topped with SA’s best Beerenberg jams and cream from the Alexandrina Cheese Company’s Jersey cream. After that, feel free to go all in and buy as many additional scones as your heart (and stomach) desires.
They’ll have classic scones, or if you have any dietary requirements, lactose-free and gluten-free options are available by request via email. Plus, the scones will be freshly baked on-site at the Mockingbird Lounge on Tuesday, so the smell will be wafting through the air.
Not only will you get your fill of delicious scones, but you’ll also be supporting a great cause. The event at Unley Town Hall is a fundraiser for the South Australian Country Women’s Association. Since 1929, SACWA has been dedicated to improving the lives of women and children in rural and urban areas. Their volunteers, known for their 11/10 baking skills, will be serving up your scones along with country-style tea and coffee.
Sconefest runs for 60 to 90 minutes, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the music, and the scones. With tickets priced between $18 and $20, it’s a fun and wallet-friendly way to spend an afternoon or evening, depending on which event you attend. Grab your tickets, and rally your fellow scone-lovers, and get ready for a scrumptious, scone-tastic experience!
