Sea change comes to Luciano’s on the Marina, re-opening with new team and fresh start

Luciano’s on the Marina has re-opened under new management, bringing their own flair to the menu with both local and Italian food and wine.

After Luciano’s unfortunate closure late last year, the luxurious Marina restaurant has reopened on the down-low with new owners, a new kitchen team, and a fresh new outlook.

The Italian restaurant first opened in 2020, situated in the former site of Esca. Luciano’s quickly became a dining favourite, known for its signature dish – a house-made gnocchetti with South Australian crab, tomato, chilli, and mascarpone.

After less than two years in operation, Luciano’s shut their doors – much to the surprise and disappointment of loyal guests.

Thankfully, Luciano’s has officially reopened is now serving delicious Italian food once again Monday to Sunday, for lunch and dinner.

A team of four restaurateurs will be leading the next chapter of Luciano’s, spearheaded by part owner Justin Daysh.

“We kept the name as it is established, and people have a lot of good memories from previously visiting. We hope people are willing to give it another chance,” said Justin.

“Luciano’s is an identity more than a name, and we wish to show it justice and continue its growth.

“We felt that such a stunning venue did not deserve to have the doors locked and that it should be alive and cooking again.”

Luciano’s interior is Mediterranean-inspired, decked out with sandstone and white timber finishes, complemented by brass and marble. The bright, luxurious interiors reflect the waterfront locale, with floor to ceiling windows lining the back of the restaurant.

“We’ve kept the fit out the same. The venue is stunning and a big draw card for us, and we think it continues to be for customers too,” said Justin.

“We have put our own flair on the menu with our kitchen team. But since we’re still in our early days, we are constantly making small changes to ensure we get this right.

“Customers should expect exceptional quality food and wine from both local and Italian regions, matched with service that we hold to just as high a standard.

“We have a few events and changes still in the pipeline that we are working on daily, so we recommend people to keep an eye on our social media.”

Justin has 20 years’ experience in the hospitality biz, previously owning three restaurants. Collectively, the new ownership team has over 50 years restaurant experience and hopes to bestow this knowledge to Luciano’s 2.0.

“I started my career with The Strathmore Hotel, then tried everything from function centres to small cafes and everything in between. What I enjoyed most was ultimately restaurants,” said Justin.

Justin part owns Glenelg’s premium steak restaurant, Seafire on the Marina, which is located a few doors down from Luciano’s.
