Sea to Shore Glenelg Seafood Festival has announced a new initiative – the Sea to Shore Long Lunch, marking its first significant collaboration with notable chefs Laura Sharrad, Shannon Fleming, and Max Sharrad. The inaugural event is set to take place on Saturday October 26th 2024 on Glenelg Jetty. A 63m long table will adorn the length of the pier, providing guests with a rare dining experience directly above the ocean.

Laura Sharrad, this year’s festival ambassador and a familiar face from MasterChef, is at the helm of curating the menu. She shared her vision for the event, saying “The Long Lunch is a new and exciting addition to the weekend-long Sea to Shore festival. For the first time ever, Glenelg Jetty will be transformed into a dining space, with stunning decor and delicious sustainably sourced seafood,” Laura said.

“We want guests to truly immerse themselves in this one-of-a-kind experience. Being able to dine ‘on top’ of the ocean at Glenelg Beach is something that has never been done before and I’m so excited to see this come to life.

“The sun shining down, the sound of waves crashing beneath, surrounding views of the ocean and Glenelg’s foreshore, and the smell of delicious seafood filling the air, it truly is an immersive experience not to be missed,” Laura continued.

The menu, created by Laura and Max Sharrad of Fugazzi Bar and Dining Room and Nido Bar and Pasta along with Shannon Fleming, part owner of Lot 100, features two entrées and two mains. Guests will enjoy a shared feast which will include entrée dishes of Two Gulfs Blue Swimmer Crab toast on malted focaccia with pickled cucumber, as well as mussels, buttermilk, potato and lemon myrtle.

The shared mains will include grilled whole ‘Robarra’, charred cos, as well as Coorong Mullet, ajo blanco, beach succulents and salmoriglio sauce.

Laura’s award-winning tiramisu will be served as dessert.

The meal will be complemented with paired wines from Howard Vineyard and artisanal gin from Threefold Distilling.

The City of Holdfast Bay Mayor Amanda Wilson shared “Providing unique experiences to our visitors is something we pride ourselves on and the Long Lunch is no exception. We are so proud to be bringing this unique event to the shores of Glenelg. Indulging in a delicious lunch, coupled with local wine and gin, all while watching the waves crash along Glenelg Beach is going to be incredible.”

“We want to continue showcasing everything that the South Australian seafood scene has to offer
and by collaborating with the state’s top restaurants, producers, wineries and distilleries and the
Sea to Shore Long Lunch is just another way we are achieving that,” Mayor Wilson said.

Guests at the Sea to Shore Long Lunch can look forward to an elaborate setup, with tickets priced at $220 per person. Ticket sales are underway and available through the event’s official booking site.

The Sea to Shore Long Lunch is part of a broader weekend celebration, as the festival expands for the first time to encompass both Saturday and Sunday. Additions to this year’s vendor lineup include the likes of Africola, Oliveti, and Franklin Harbour Oyster Co, adding breadth to an already diverse range of offerings at the Glenelg foreshore hub.

The Sea to Shore Glenelg Seafood Festival showcases a wide spectrum of seafood-related activities and cuisines, featuring top-tier local chefs and a variety of seafood from sustainable sources. With its focus on fresh, locally sourced produce, the festival promises to be a highlight for food lovers and casual diners alike.
