A Seaford Rise man is celebrating a striking $4.8 million Set for Life win in a relaxed setting with his cat and a calming chai tea. The winner, who remains unnamed, claimed the only division one prize nationally in the Set for Life draw 3602, held on Monday.
The man was on the phone to his mum when he received the life-altering call from The Lott, a moment he described as special and unforgettable.
“Mum and I always put a ticket on, and we were actually on the phone last night around 8:30pm. I was just saying goodnight when she said, ‘Hang on, let’s check our Set for Life tickets.’ She had no win, then I opened my app and just went ‘Holy sh**!’. It was so surreal. I felt like I was having a heart attack!” he shared.
“I’ve had a look at it about 1,000 times, and I think I got about an hour of sleep in total.”
The substantial prize amount of $4.8 million will be disbursed in monthly instalments of $20,000 over 20 years, ensuring long-term financial stability for the lucky winner.
Reflecting on the win, he expressed his happiness and the overwhelming nature of the moment.
“Thank you so so so much. It’s all hitting me now. It’s completely life changing. I’m getting emotional, but don’t worry, it’s happy tears,” he added.
In addition to looking after himself, the lucky winner is eager to help his family.
“Honestly, my mum and sister come to mind straight away with this win. Family is everything to me,” he remarked. His pet cat will also enjoy more luxurious treatment. “Of course, my beautiful cat won’t be left out! She already gets the princess treatment, but now she’ll be even more spoiled.”
The winning ticket was purchased via The Lott app, the official platform for Australia’s lotteries. The winning numbers for the Set for Life draw were 1, 30, 18, 3, 26, 23 and 21, with supplementary numbers 40 and 32.
This victory adds to a growing list of Set for Life winners, marking the 158th division one winner nationally since the game commenced, and the 11th so far this year.
In 2024, there were 22 Set for Life division one winners across Australia, who will collectively receive $105.6 million over two decades. By the end of December 2024, more than $148 million in monthly payments had been awarded to 147 division one winners across the country.
South Australia has also seen its share of lottery luck, with 22 SA Lotteries customers joining the division one winner circle in 2025 alone.
This win not only represents a significant financial boost for the Seaford Rise man but also continues a streak of good fortune for residents playing national lotteries through SA Lotteries.
