Sean’s Kitchen Will Be Your Oyster Central This August

Point out who isn’t excited by a month long celebration of South Australian oysters. They need to be converted ASAP. And Sean’s is the place to do it.

Say this out loud – “Bivalve Mollusc”. Go on, it doesn’t matter if you’re on the bus, in the office, in the middle of ignoring your friends in conversation by checking your phone. Make sure everyone can hear you, and when people look at you, all confused and suspicious, just smile and respond “one hell of an aphrodisiac!” and wink and them thusly:

As we see it, you’ll either get some more room on the bus, asked to take the afternoon off or a marine biologist will pipe up and sweep you off your feet. There’s no way to lose here.

Much the same as how there’s no way to lose at Sean’s Kitchen this month as all things Oyster (yep, that’s what a Bivalve Mollusc is) takes over their menu, with SA’s famous oyster regions including Coffin Bay and Kangaroo Island delivering the freshest, most delicious oysters for you to enjoy daily. They’re calling it a Festival, but as far as we’re concerned it’s just an opportunity to test whether or not these clams are actually aphrodisiacs by eating them day in day out and seeing if we suddenly begin to radiate some kind of mystical sexuality.

Here’s a run down of how Sean’s will serve up their freshly shucked delights all August:
– Two $1 Oyster Hours daily, from 12-1pm and 5-6pm.
– 6 Oyster dishes will be added to the menu, including Chicken Fried Oyster Tacos, and a cheeky Beef and Oyster Pot Pie.
– There will be an Oyster Tasting Flight so you can taste the difference between oysters from different SA regions… Hello!
– 5 Themed Cockatils will be available from the bar, including the specially created James Pond; a twisted martini of Gin, vermouth and lemon cured oyster and the San Fran Oyster Cocktail which dates back to 1860.
– Add to that 5 Oyster Shooters from the bar, including the Bloody Mary style and our Shuck Hunter with duck fat and bourbon and the Shuck Me with vodka and Sean’s Hot Sauce.
– There will be two Oyster Masterclasses offered during the month. Oysters and Laphroaig whisky will be hosted on Tuesday 9 August. Oysters and Louis Roederer champagne will follow on Tuesday 23 August. Both classes will cost $49 per person.

And to cap it all off on Tuesday, August 30 at 7pm you can join the chef himself, Sean Connolly, for an evening of Oysters featuring 4 courses matched with drinks and Oyster experts on hand to teach you everything you’ve ever wanted to know about oysters. Like why do Sonja Kruger’s lips when pursed look like an oyster and should we be concerned that she’s giving oysters everywhere a bad name?
