See the Northern Lights right here in Adelaide with the return of Borealis for this year’s Fringe Festival.
Heading the Gluttony for 2022, Borealis takes viewers across the globe for a magical visual experience from February 18 to March 20.
The installation is brought to observers by Switzerland-based artivist Dan Acher with multi-coloured lights and a 40-minute looping atmospheric soundtrack that resembles the aurora borealis.Â
The installation which takes over the night sky is a combination of art and technology, with laser beams piercing particle clouds to create the appearance of the ever-changing, vibrant visuals.
The weather, shifting colours, and changing movement patterns make the work of art change, entrancing viewers in the ever-evolving visual experience.

Borealis had its Southern Hemisphere premiere in Adelaide for Fringe Festival in 2018 on North Terrace. It returned in 2021 as an open-air installation in Gluttony where it will be heading to again this year.
The installation projects over Rymill Park Lake where visitors can enter at 15-minute intervals and spend as long as they want in the space.
Also on offer at Gluttony is an eclectic array of venues of venues and diverse offering of entertainment through its program. Spanning in genres of theatre, cabaret, circus, magic, comedy, dance, music, spoken word, burlesque, and children’s entertainment there is something for everyone to enjoy.
While wondering through the Gluttony and checking out Borealis, visitors are welcomed to take a pick at the cuisine on offer from a wide range of stalls, and sip on fine wine, local beer and high-quality spirits.
