After a three-week hiatus, the Sellick Beach General Store has reopened in a temporary pop-up shipping container, replacing the iconic little blue building.
The redevelopment comes as the owners of the site go ahead with plans to construct a three-story apartment building. But don’t stress, the General Store is set to take over one of the many retail spaces on the ground floor of the building.
It’s safe to say owners Jim and Charmaine Liapis are not ones to shy away from a challenge, and the pair look forward to transforming the new space bringing a new sparkle to the store. The quaint blue building, which has officially been demolished, oozed character and history but was due for some work. The opportunity to completely transform the shop brings an element of excitement for the crew.
Even more, the temporary store, although small, is still able to offer the entirety of the store’s much-loved takeaway menu. Whether you’re after a classic steak sandwich, fish and chips to take down to the shore, or one of the Fleurieu Coast’s best coffees to quench your thirst, the general store has you covered.
The store also offers an app detailing the shop’s lengthy menu. The app allows customers to order online in advance so that their snacks can be ready upon arrival to the beach.
Although the range of groceries available has had to be cut down to accommodate the temporary space, we assure you the experience and the service you’ll receive are better than ever.
The new location for Sellick Beaches General Store is set to open by Christmas of this year, and we’re just as excited as you to see how the new space will be transformed.
