Semaphore’s beloved beer and pizza place, Sweet Amber, has just turned up the heat—literally—with the launch of its brand new beer garden marquee, and it’s just in time for the cool change to properly settle in.
Known for slinging some of the west’s finest woodfired pizza and craft brews, Sweet Amber is now giving locals even more reason to brave the chill. The freshly installed marquee transforms their outdoor space into a cosy, weatherproof hang perfect for winter catch-ups.
Think warm heaters, moody lighting, and the comforting sounds of good conversation paired with cold pints and piping hot pizza.
Manager Zach Smith says the move was all about making sure people could enjoy the space even when the skies aren’t playing nice.
“Although umbrellas are great in summer, they don’t do much when it’s bucketing down,” he said with a laugh.
“We wanted the beer garden to be a space people could enjoy all year round, not just when the sun’s out.”
The new setup is simple but super effective. There’s a big, weatherproof marquee overhead, heaters scattered around, and even a fire pit planned for when it gets really chilly.
“We just wanted it to feel like a cosy place to hang out,” Zach explained. “Somewhere you don’t have to worry about getting soaked or freezing.”
Surprisingly, the makeover came together pretty easily. A bit of tree trimming here, some furniture shuffling there, and it was ready to go. And the response from locals has been nothing short of heartwarming.
“After we posted about the new setup on social media, the response was wild,” Zach said.
“So many regulars reached out with kind words. We honestly couldn’t be more grateful.”
What hasn’t changed is the laid-back, welcoming vibe Sweet Amber is known for.
“We’re always trying to improve things without losing that friendly, down-to-earth feel people love us for,” he said. “We just want to keep it fun, welcoming, and full of good energy.”
With an always-changing selection of craft beers and a food menu that’s all about flavour-packed pizzas and pub-style eats, the venue continues to champion good times and great tastes.
Now, with their toasty new setup, it’s easier than ever to enjoy it all no matter what the weather throws down.
