Get ready to ring in the New Year with a bang at Semaphore Foreshore! The City of Port Adelaide Enfield is hosting a free, family-friendly extravaganza that promises to be a highlight of Adelaide’s coastal celebrations.
Starting at 6pm on New Year’s Eve, the foreshore will come alive with a vibrant mix of live music, roving entertainers, and captivating street theatre performances, guaranteeing a night of non-stop fun for all ages.
But the real showstoppers are the two spectacular fireworks and light displays planned for 9:30pm and midnight. The earlier show, specially designed for families with young children, will last approximately 8 minutes, while the midnight extravaganza will be a 5-minute spectacle ushering in the new year with a dazzling burst of colour and light. The organisers have said, “These dazzling shows will be perfectly synchronized to a soundtrack that will transform the foreshore and jetty into a radiant wonderland.”
A selection of food trucks will also be on hand to satisfy your cravings, but don’t forget to explore the diverse culinary offerings along Semaphore Road. “A small selection of food trucks will be available, and we encourage you to visit the local businesses along Semaphore Road,” says the City of PAE. Outside food is also welcome, so pack a picnic if you prefer.
To ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone, the event site and Semaphore Road from Causeway Road will be a dry zone from midday on December 31st to midday on January 1st. Alcohol consumption will be restricted to licensed premises.
While the event is designed with families in mind, it’s best to leave your furry friends at home. The large crowds and loud fireworks may cause distress to animals.
For a comfortable evening, remember to bring blankets, low chairs, hats, sunscreen, water, and appropriate clothing and footwear. “We would recommend wearing appropriate clothing and footwear suited to the time of year and weather conditions on the day for an outdoor event,” advises the City of PAE. The event will proceed rain or shine, unless extreme weather conditions pose a safety risk.
Parking will be limited due to road closures in effect from 10am on December 31st to 2am on January 1st, so plan your travel accordingly. Key roads, including Semaphore Road and parts of Esplanade, will be closed. Refer to the event site map on the council website for details.
The NYE celebration will take place in the lawned areas adjacent to the Semaphore Jetty entrance and the reserve area south of the Café/Playground. No tickets are required for this free event, and the fireworks can be enjoyed from various points along the foreshore.
