Semaphore foreshore to host dazzling New Year’s Eve celebrations and fireworks

Attendees can look forward to a night brimming with entertainment, including live music from bands and DJs, captivating street theatre performances, and roving entertainers that will add an element of surprise and delight throughout the evening.

Semaphore Foreshore is set to become the epicenter of New Year’s Eve festivities along Adelaide’s coastline, offering a spectacular and free community event that promises to be an unforgettable experience for all ages. The City of PAE is presenting this celebration, which will feature an array of activities and entertainment, great for the whole family.

The event kicks off at 6pm and will continue until the final moments of the year. Attendees can look forward to a night brimming with entertainment, including live music from bands and DJs, captivating street theatre performances, and roving entertainers that will add an element of surprise and delight throughout the evening.

A highlight of the celebration will be the two magnificent fireworks and light shows scheduled for 9:30pm and midnight. These shows, each uniquely choreographed, will light up the night sky in a burst of colour and brilliance. The earlier 9:30pm display, lasting approximately 8 minutes, is specially designed for families with children, allowing them to enjoy the spectacle without staying up too late. The midnight show, a 5-minute extravaganza, will usher in the new year with a bang.

Food enthusiasts will be thrilled with the variety of culinary options available. In addition to a selection of food trucks serving an array of delicious fare, attendees are encouraged to explore and support the local businesses along Semaphore Road. While outside food is permitted, the on-site vendors will offer a range of tantalising options to satisfy all taste buds.

To ensure a safe and family-friendly environment, the event site and Semaphore Road from Causeway Road will be designated as a dry zone from midday on 31 December to midday on 1 January. Alcohol consumption is restricted to licensed premises in the area, ensuring a comfortable experience for everyone.

The event is designed with families in mind, offering activities that cater to all ages. However, attendees are advised against bringing pets due to the large crowds and the noise from the fireworks, which may cause distress to animals.

For a comfortable experience, attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, low chairs, hats, sunscreen, water, and appropriate clothing and footwear to suit the coastal evening weather. The event will proceed rain or shine, barring extreme weather conditions that pose safety risks.

Parking will be limited due to road closures, which will be in effect from 4pm on 31 December 2023 to 2am on 1 January 2024. Key roads, including Semaphore Road and parts of Esplanade, will be closed to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all. Attendees are encouraged to plan their travel accordingly and can refer to the event site map for more details.

The NYE celebration at Semaphore Foreshore will take place in the lawned areas adjacent to the Semaphore Jetty entrance and the reserve area south of the Café/Playground. Please note that the Jetty will be closed from 11am on NYE until 3am on 1 January.

This free event does not require tickets, and the fireworks and lighting shows can be viewed from a broad area along the foreshore.
