Señor Mexican is spicing up Plant 4 Bowden with their new winter residency

After years of festivals, pop-ups and life on four wheels, Señor Mexico are ready to bring their beloved tacos to Plant 4 Bowden this winter.

After years serving as one of Adelaide’s most beloved food trucks, Señor Mexican understands that the fundamentals of a good taco are: quality tortillas, perfectly seasoned meats and chillies imported from Mexico.

Now, the same tacos Adelaide know and love are set to spice up Plant 4 Bowden over the next few months, marking an exciting new chapter for the street-food favourite.

After a pivotal trip to Mexico in 2017, co-founders Mickey and Daniel finally found what the Adelaide food scene had been missing.

“I was always bias and thought Italian food was the best, and I went to Mexico and thought ‘we have some competition here … this food is amazing,'” said Mickey.

“We just want people to get a real taste of Mexico … and maybe change their perspective on what Mexican should taste like.”

Determined to showcase authentic Mexican flavours, the pair make their own vibrant salsas, marinate their meats and source key ingredients directly from Mexico.

After years of bouncing between food trucks, festivals and pop-up events, the team are looking forward to slowing the pace this winter and embracing the stability and of a storefront. Their new home inside the bustling market hall is giving them the opportunity to go beyond food trucks.

“Working out of a food truck is not easy… so to have a shopfront is a really nice luxury.”

“We did pop-ups there with the food trucks … and they said they have a slot available for a winter residency which is the first time they’re doing that … and we thought it was a cool opportunity.”

Plant 4 is providing Señor Mexican the room and inspiration to introduce new dishes they have been busy working on, including brand-new breakfast tacos loaded with their signature salsas, which are available and adored nationally.

They’re also teasing some new menu items set to be revealed within the coming weeks, along with some returning favourites.

“Potentially as the weather gets warmer we have our Mexican drinks, Horchata and Agua Jamaica, which we run only at the Fringe but we were thinking of bringing it to Plant 4.”

Señor Mexican are inviting you to warm up in Plant 4, on 17 July, with their “real Mexican ingredients which create real Mexican flavours.”
