For visitors and locals seeking a tranquil, scenic escape in the Adelaide Hills, it doesn’t get much better than Sequoia Lodge. Tucked away on the side of Mount Lofty, high above the Piccadilly Valley and quietly removed from the hustle and bustle of the city, Sequoia Lodge is one of the premier luxury, adults-only accommodation offerings in the country. And, the charm and allure of this ultra-private getaway just got even better.
Now, the frenetic energy of bees is being harnessed at Sequoia Lodge to produce honey for the food menu and offer guests an unexpected mindfulness experience.

According to Lodge Manager Parth Tantry, a bee enthusiast, Brad Whittaker, has established a beehive on the property to deliver an exclusive bee experience for guests.
“Guests don protective beekeeper clothing and spend an entertaining hour with Brad to understand why these pollinators are so important for the future of the planet,” he said.
Brad, who founded The Humble Apiarist, a community that encourages beekeeping, draws on 14 years of sustainable beekeeping education and workshops. His practice includes establishing beehives for Adelaide Hills properties like the nearby Jurlique flower farm, helping people understand honey production and the ecological importance of bees.

“This unique bee hands-on experience is one of the Signature Inclusions for guests at Sequoia that immerse them in the peaceful natural environment of Mount Lofty Estate”, says Tantry.
Brad said he was excited to be working with Sequoia Lodge and explained the experience and its benefits.
“I will help guests to understand the magic of bees, see how a Flow Hive works, and let them
get up close and personal by holding a bee frame in their hands. They will get to sit for a moment and be mindful while they feel the buzz and magical frequency of bees which are the most healing creatures on earth.”
“The sound and vibration of bees has been used to ease PTSD and anxiety, eating honey produced within 8km of where you live can get rid of allergies to local pollens, and even the smell of bees has homeopathic properties to relieve asthma.”
The Sequoia Lodge team is also excited to integrate the honey produced on-site into their menu, with Executive Chef Nicolas Reverte planning to use it to create sauces and enhance breakfast dishes.
Sequoia Lodge guests can join the bee experience on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 4.30pm.
