Set Sail For The Holdy’s New Nautical-Themed Menu

Have you ever ordered a dish only to have someone else at the table order something that looked even more delicious than what you got? Yes, plate envy is a real thing, and we have found you a cure. You’re welcome.

Say ‘ahoy’ to The Holdy’s new nautical inspired menu. They’ve just launched their new dining experience which is all about relaxing with good company, having a quiet drink or two and sharing delicious food with a focus on local produce.

Head chef Hayley Mass has spent countless hours putting together the new menu, road testing it on friends and family, and working hard to include vegan and coeliac-friendly options that are just as tasty as the other items on the menu. What’s transpired is a menu that is meant to be shared, that has a traditional pub feel, but also one that will surprise you with some unexpected flavour combinations.

Given its location close to the sea, there is a strong focus on seafood. If you love your treats from the ocean then try the chilled prawn cutlets or a tapas plate including fresh calamari to start. The fettuccine marinara looks as pretty as a picture and is jam packed with seafood goodness. And then there is the seafood platter for two, with plenty of fresh prawns, oysters, crabs, octopus and salmon.

Not into seafood? Well the ‘Nothing but a chicken thang’ pizza is absolutely delicious with a perfect thin crust and plenty of flavour. Then there’s the bedrock ribs; slow braised, sticky fall off the bone goodness. Drool-worthy for sure.

An overwhelming favourite, even for the meat eaters, is the ‘feel good salad’. With quinoa, roasted pumpkin, beetroot, baby spinach and feta amongst the ingredients and topped off with a beetroot glaze (handmade over four days), this packed a flavour punch and absolutely lived up to its name.

Now we don’t believe that any meal is complete without dessert and The Holdy’s list of sweet treats has undergone a complete overhaul. Some of the new options include a vegan-friendly coconut lime panna cotta, a chocolate delice with macerated cranberries and a Bailey’s mousse with brandy snap. Hmmm, maybe you won’t want to share these.

The new menu isn’t the only addition to the Holdy though. They’ve just launched the Sailor Jerry themed Garden Bar. Perfect for a Sunday sesh with friends, there’s live entertainment and a raft of Sailor Jerry inspired drinks to finish off your weekend right.

So grab your mates and set sail for the Holdy Hotel. You’ll find them at 83 Brighton Road, Glenelg. theholdy.com.au.
