The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning tonight for DAMAGING WINDS for people in parts of Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Flinders, Mid North, Riverland, North West Pastoral and North East Pastoral districts.
Severe thunderstorms continue moving into central and eastern parts of the state.
Weather Situation: A surface trough ahead of a southwesterly cool change is generating severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging wind gusts.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Port Augusta, Port Pirie, Jamestown, Burra, Peterborough and Quorn.
107 km/h gust at Port Augusta at 5:27 pm.
94 km/h gust at Wudinna at 6:19 pm.
91 km/h gust at Whyalla at 7:21 pm.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Secure or put away loose items around your property.
* Move cars under cover or away from trees.
* Keep clear of fallen power lines.
* Stay indoors, away from windows, while storms are nearby.
The next warning is due to be issued by 11:40 pm Monday.
Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau’s website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and State Emergency Service would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
This comes on the back of the Bureau issuing fire bans in South Australia for October 3rd.
