Ice cold craft pints brewed on-site, mouthwatering food trucks and a warehouse fit-out – Shapeshifter Brewing Co has opened their taphouse – and it is everyone’s boozy beer-loving dreams.

The much-loved craft microbrewers have finally opened their taphouse, only operating as contact brewers for the last three years. With Shapeshifter beers finding a regular spot in bottle-o’s and pubs across the state, opening a dedicated brewery has long been a pipedream for the brewing company.

Now, founders James McCall and Kevin Mulcahy are ready to take Shapeshifter to the next level.

“We wanted to create a place where we could showcase the beers,” says the duo.

“Even though the Craft Beer market in South Australia is still relatively young and evolving, we had to establish our niche, and that was to make sure we could produce modern and experimental brews that we can now serve fresh. For us, it is all about the beers.”

Opening in Findon in early October, the dedicated taphouse slings fresh pints that pack a flavourful hoppy punch from Thursdays through to Sundays – making it an idyllic location for a summertime Sunday session or Friday knock offs.

Each weekend an array of food trucks will also be setting up shop at Shapeshifter Brewing’s new home, dishing up delicious meals to enjoy with a pint in hand.

“We’ve created a space that is perfect for Friday knock offs with your mates or to bring the family on a Sunday,” says Venue Manager Nemesia Dale-Cully.

“We’ve got pinball, a kid’s corner, some of Adelaide’s best food trucks on board every weekend and live acoustic vibes.”

While the line-up of trucks consistently rotates, punters can expect the likes of Cheeky Chips, Braising Boy and Evi’s Grecian Delights to be whipping up something delicious from Friday through to Sunday.

As for beers, a rotation of twelve new beers will also be brewed on-site regularly, with the space allowing the boys to experiment with Shapeshifter’s flavours and showcase them to the crowds.

“We’re known for our Hazys, but our Stouts and IPAs are not far behind, and we always have an eye on what is coming next,” says the duo.

While the opening is exciting news for Shapeshifter Brewing, James says the road to Findon was not an easy one – but they’ve struck gold with the location.

“Findon has great proximity to the city and the coast; it is a great area to live and work,” he says.

“But it wasn’t exactly a smooth task to convert a 600 square metre warehouse into a brewery where we could not only produce our own beers but be a great place for people to come and enjoy the beers.”

“After a six-month build, we are open, and the feedback has been amazing.”

With a neon ‘are you thirsty’ placed on their stone-walled warehouse, Shapeshifter Brewery is sure to quench the Westside locales boozy thirst.

Shapeshifter Brewing Co can be found at 2/54 Crittenden Rd Findon and is open Thursday 3 to 8pm, Fridays and Saturdays 12noon to 10pm and Sundays 12 to 6pm.
