Shop, Bop And Chop: Gilles St Market’s Father’s Day Edit

Father’s Day is just around the corner and Gilles St Market is holding a massive Father’s Day edit with barbers, food, an Instabooth and live music… plus shopping, of course.

*UPDATE 1 September 2017: Gilles St Market Father’s Day Edit cancelled due to bad weather*
Father’s Day is coming up and to be completely honest we have no idea what to get Dad. He probably doesn’t want a spa voucher and he sure as hell doesn’t need another tie. If you’re as lost as we are, we have an event that’s going to make all your worries disappear – drum roll – Gilles Street Market’s Father’s Day Edit.
Gilles Street Market is creating the perfect vibe to take Dad for breakfast, lunch or brunch this Father’s Day, Sunday 3 September at 10am. With heaps of stallholders to shop, live music, and even barbers there doing the chop, there’s no better place this Father’s Day. Whether you’re looking for a last minute gift for Dad, or simply wanting to spend your Sunday ambling around, head down and enjoy the day with the family.
Can’t make on Father’s Day weekend? Don’t worry, Gilles Street Markets are running twice a month again as we head into the warmer weather: the first and third Sunday of each month.
We’ve put together a massive list of everything that’s going on so you can make this Dad’s Day the best one yet.

Little Johnny Insta Booth + Coffee Van

Little Johnny will morph into an Insta booth and coffee van for the market. Take a photo anywhere in the market then head to Little Johnny and collect your printed photo! All you have to do is hashtag #dadsofgillesstreet on Instagram and the Insta Booth will automatically download it. Have some fun with Dad this Father’s Day.

Adelaide’s Pop-Up Book Store

With quirky books only a Daggy Dad could love, Adelaide’s Pop-Up Book Store will be setting up a $2 stall of weird and wonderful books for Dads of all ages. We love this concept!

Slick Lobster

Local uber-cool barber Slick Lobster, are on board for the Father’s Day Edit. With hot cuts and beard trims all day, maybe you’ll be able to convince Dad to get rid of that piece of hair that looks suspiciously like a rat’s tail.

KK Gifts

Is your Dad just a super simple man? Get him a simple gift from KK Gifts, with watches, bottle openers, social games and so much more available. They even have free gift wrapping on site, so you can pretend you didn’t forget to get him a gift.

Little Big Balloon Co.

Gilles Street has teamed up with the Little Big Balloon Co. and have released a balloon just for Father’s Day. Create that extra “wow” factor for your Dad and show him how much your heart could explode with all the love you have for him.

Thoo Good Food

Not sure what to get Dad? Thoo Good Food are creating a range of delicious cookies decorated with “Dad” and “Best Dad” to treat your favourite father on the day

Sky Doodles

Worried your kids will be bored with all the attention on Dad? Don’t fear, your young ones will be able to play on a great playground. Not only that, but The Sky Doodles are on board with the best handcrafted fairy floss. This isn’t just any fairy floss though – you can choose from a range of colours and even different animal shapes.

Carō Club

Tim and Kyle from My Kitchen Rules 2017 have teamed up with their best mate and head chef Kain (formerly Bread & Bone, Street, NOMA) to bring you Carō Club. Carō, the Latin word for meat, inspired the name and menu, which features meat-focussed dishes. With influences from North, Central and South America, as well as Asian inspired cuisine, your Dad will be able to chow down until he’s fuller than he’s ever been and his beer belly is hanging over his jeans.

DJ Paul Gurry

With local DJ extraordinaire and super cool Dad, Paul Gurry, making a special guest appearance, get ready to shake your groove thing and be entertained with Paul’s theatrical style. Bop while you shop!

Plus local labels including…

Bowtie Label
Yeo Haus
Mr Jackson Browne
Steeze Villains Clothing
Doomed Clothing
Supa Sundayz
And so many more!

Are you sitting there thinking ‘this sounds great, but what about me?’ Well, don’t fear ladies of Adelaide, they’ll still have ALL their regular stalls of great clothing, accessories and home products!
With all the action starting at 10am, why not wake Dad up early with a breakfast in bed before you head down? With so many brilliant stalls, food experiences and great tunes, Dad won’t know what hit him this Father’s Day.
