Showbag testers wanted for the 2026 Royal Adelaide Show

Want to test up to 400 showbags with 35 of your besties? Find out how here.

Every kid loves showbags.

After a day full of farm animals, chips-on-a-stick and a trek through the yellow-brick road, there’s nothing quite like a trip to the showbag tent to top it all off.

From bags bursting with enough sour Warheads to make your eyes water, to joke bags that seem like a brilliant idea at the time (until a week of whoopie cushions and fake spiders, has you thinking otherwise), to the ever-iconic Bertie Beetles that never fail to feel like a trip down memory lane, there truly is something for everyone.

Adelaide Show is on the lookout for 2026 Showbag Testers, offering one lucky kid aged 5–12 the chance to invite up to 35 classmates, sporting club friends, or community group buddies to the official launch of the showbags on August 20.

For quality control, they need to be thoroughly tested by the showbags most beloved customers and harshest critics – the Kids of Adelaide. Because nobody wants to spend their well-saved pocket money on a lousy showbag!

They’ll get the chance to test up to 400 showbags, and will receive two take-home showbags and a family pass to the Royal Adelaide Show 2026.

However, to enter, the Adelaide Show teams are asking them to put on their creative hats.

In just 50 words, an uploaded image or a 30 second video, kids are being asked to describe, “If you could send a showbag back in time to a kid from 100 years ago, what would you put inside it and what do you think would blow their mind?”

The most imaginative entry will be crowned the winner and announced via the Show’s e-newsletter on Monday, July 20.

Marking 100 years of showbags in 2026, this is sure to be the ultimate celebration of South Australia’s favourite iconic Adelaide Show souvenirs.

When: Entries close Tuesday 11:59pm Tuesday, June 30, 2026. Winner announced via the Show’s e-newsletter on Monday, July 20.
Showbag launch/testing day: Thursday, August 20 at Adelaide Showground.
