Shut The Gate Winery has taken out the top spot in this the Adelaide Review’s Hot 100 Wines for 2019, with their For Love Watervale Riesling voted the most drinkable wine of the year by the panel of judges.
The Clare Valley winery was announced as the 2019 winner, rising above 1,200 other South Australian entries to take out the number one spot.
Shut The Gate’s win saw them excel above other local favourites, including submissions from Redhead Wines and Yalumba & Hill Smith Family Vineyards, who took out second and third place respectively.
The champion riesling wooed the judging panel with its unique vibrant colour and tantalising fruity flavours, showing hints of citrus, jasmine blossom, and stone fruit expressions.
The Hot 100 Wines is an annual magazine produced and released by the Adelaide Review.
The publication shines a spotlight on the best South Australian wines each year, ranking them from number 100 to the highly sought after number one place.
