Sidewood Estate, one of the Adelaide Hills most awarded wineries, is set to host its Charred Long Lunch event as part of the upcoming Winter Reds Festival on Sunday 28 July. The event will showcase the incredible food that Sidewood’s restaurant has become known for, showcasing an exclusive eight-dish menu paired with Sidewood’s signature red wines.
Executive Chef Jamie Carter has designed an innovative menu that incorporates locally sourced ingredients, with most produce originating within just 3 kilometres of the estate’s cellar door. This initiative builds on the restaurant’s recently launched winter menu, adding a special twist for the festival.
“Winter Reds is one of our favourite times of the year,” said Carter. “The Adelaide Hills provides an incredible backdrop in winter, and it’s always a fun challenge to craft dishes that pair well with our red wines.”
The festive long lunch will feature an array of delicately prepared dishes, including Hahndorf venison tartar enhanced with quandong and puffed rice, and charred zucchini with ajo blanco and smoked almond. Other highlights will be the wood-oven roasted local lamb rack with plums and lamb jus, confit duck accompanied by lentils and charred kale, smoked pumpkin, burnt broccolini with fire-roasted romesco, and baby carrots dressed with labneh, honey, and zhoug.
Dessert will not disappoint with burnt orange crème Catalana served with pistachio lavosh and bruleed chevre alongside roast pear. These indulgent delights will be complemented by a selection of Sidewood’s award-winning wines, including the NV Sparkling Pinot Noir Rosé, ‘Old China Hand’ Signature Syrah, ‘777’ Signature Pinot Noir, 22 Year Old Rare Tawny, and NV Sparkling Shiraz.
“It’s always a fun time up at Sidewood, especially once the reds start flowing,” remarked Carter. “I’m looking forward to welcoming everyone and sharing both our warm hospitality and the great food and wine we have to offer.”
Visitors to Sidewood can also enjoy the estate’s other drawcards, including Lawn Bowls & Pétanque Courts, for those wanting to soak up the Winter sun, and enjoy the outdoors. Plus of course, there will be heaters and a crackling fire, to keep everyone toasty.
Tickets for the Charred Long Lunch at Sidewood Estate are limited, and priced at $195 per person. Those interested can visit www.sidewood.com.au for more information and to purchase tickets.
