Sinclair’s Gully Presents ‘Phantom in the Forest’

Sinclair’s Gully, South Australia’s favourite ecotourism venue brings you a unique outdoor musical experience. Featuring coloratura soprano Kathryn Snape and set against the majestic candlebark gums of Sinclair’s Gully, the evening promises to showcase some of your favourite classical musical pieces in one of Adelaide’s most spectacular natural settings.

Sean explains “The idea for this show came about after listening to Kathryn’s performance at a Summer Twilight Tasting. The audience reaction to her performance was amazing. A spontaneous, honest and emotional outpouring of appreciation and recognition of her talent. I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised as Kathryn is classically trained and has been performing since she was 5. “

Sean said “We saw the opportunity to link the power of Kathryn’s performance with the majestic beauty of Sinclair’s Gully. The ancient candlebarks not only form a beautiful back drop but also magnify the presence and drama of the performance. This performance has become a firm favourite with Sinclair's Gully regulars, as these events are not only about the performance, they are also important social outings for people, an opportunity to enjoy exceptional sparkling wine and importantly they are a way for us to reconnect people with this magnificent natural environment.”

After sell out performances at last year’s Fringe and Easter, Kathryn returns to perform at Sinclair’s Gully as part of the 2012 Fringe Festival. The performance includes such favourites as “Music of the Night”, “Memory” and “Nessun Dorma” as well as a number of new songs. Set against the haunting backdrop of the towering candlebark gums, this absolutely inspirational performance is truly Phantom! Don’t miss ……..THE MUSIC OF THE NIGHT!

Kathryn Snape Born in Halifax, West Yorkshire, England in 1958, Kathryn started performing at 5 years of age. Kathryn’s father was principal cornetist for the English Black Dyke Brass Band (the band recently toured in Australia) and was musical director for the Kensington and Norwood Brass Band. Kathryn played cornet and flugel in the Kensington and Norwood and Elizabeth brass bands until age 21.

Kathryn’s singing career started at 19, being classically trained as a coloratura soprano by Rae Cocking, a renowned soprano with the State Opera and the Conservatorium of Music.
