Sinclair Gully to Represent SA at Australian Tourism Awards

It has been announced that Sue and Sean Delaney of Sinclair’s Gully Wines at Norton Summit will represent South Australia at the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards held in Perth on Friday 11 March 2011.

Sinclair Gully has had a rewarding past 12 months with achievements including: winning the prestigious South Australian Qantas Awards for Excellence in Sustainable Tourism, rewarded Gold for Tourism Wineries, Distilleries and Boutique Breweries and Silver for the Ecotourism categories.

The driven Adelaide Hills family business will be competing against the best from each State and Territory of Australia.  “It is such a great honour to be recognized for our sustainable tourism initiatives and commitment to reducing our carbon footprint.” Said Sue.

Environmental practices are a vital aspect in the family’s business and these practices focus on conservation of the endangered candlebark ecosystem and the use of biodynamic vineyards practices to guarantee sustainable outcomes. “Our sustainability initiatives have resulted in a 46% reduction in our carbon footprint over 2 years.

These initiatives have not only reduced our environmental footprint, but resulted in significant cost savings, improving the business’s net profitability.” Explains Sue.

The Delaney’s believe the secret to producing good wine starts in the vineyard.  The family illustrates a strong focus on soil health and encourages beneficial insects, making sure the vineyards remains in balance with nature.  ‘We offer visitors to our cellar door interpretive experiences on the conservation value of our candlebark endangered eco-system.  The wines produced display great fruit expressions and cleanliness, reflecting the unique site specific characteristics.”  Says Sean.
